Sesame seeds have enjoyed a very good reputation among people of all origins for centuries and in some regions even for millennia. Sesame seeds were processed thousands of years ago in Africa and India. Vasco de Gamma brought sesame seeds to Europe about 500 years ago.
ECO-FRIENDLY SESAME SEEDS PRODUCTION IS NOT DEMANDING FOR CHEMICALS
PRICE IS DETERMINED BY QUALITY AND DEMAND
SESAME OIL CAN BE EATEN VERY WELL AND THE SAME OIL CAN BE USED AS MASSAGE OIL
To produce 1 liter of a healthy and organic sesame oil it needs 1.2 Million organic sesame seeds (around 3kg) and a sesame oil press system. Oleic acids in sesame oil are far better protected from oxidation than is the case with other vegetable oils due to excellent fatty acids (around 2%). We are talking about lecithin, the vitamin E complex and sesamolin, among others. Surprisingly, sesame oil is also an excellent and natural sunscreen, the mentioned fatty compounds are ergo very active in many functions to bring health benefits to humans! Even heavy metals that have nested in the skin can bind and remove them from the skin cells when applied externally.
SUN FIRE? SESAME OIL RELEASES REGENERATIVE POWERS.
In case of sunburn, most people use an after-sun product of the well-known brands. However, these products usually contain various chemical additives that counteract the actual purpose of treating the damaged skin. Although the sun-damaged skin is effectively cooled by the well-known brand products, it is not known what side effects Aldi ingredients in the products have. A leading dermatologist at the University of Istanbul and his team are convinced that the natural benefits of skin care in the case of skin damage from too much sun exposure are highly beneficial to the regeneration of the skin through the therapeutic use of sesame oil.
SESAME SEEDS HAVE – DEPENDING ON THEIR ORIGIN – DIFFERENT NUTRITIONAL CONTENTS
Sesame seeds are a very good source of protein, which contains all the essential amino acids. These take over numerous important tasks in our body. For example, they are jointly responsible for the formation of new collagen. Sesame seeds can give strength to our connective tissue and skin and can contribute to a healthy growth of skin, hair as well as nails. Sesame seeds as a regular intake also stands for healthy bones; provided regular intake.
SESAME SEEDS & SESAME OIL IS ALSO A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED SOURCE OF MINERALS
Sesame products with a high sesame seed content is a true osteoporosis preventative. The small seeds have an excellent mineral content. Thus one finds a lot of calcium and magnesium in sesame, the seeds are therefore particularly valuable for a good structure of bones and cartilage, even for stronger muscles and joints and even for the heart muscle they bring positive properties. Sesame seeds also promote the conduction of impulses to our nerves. Sesame seeds and the sesame oil contain many antioxidants. They can be useful to our body with extra antioxidants. Even as a source of vitamin D, sesame seeds have made a name for themselves. Last but not least, the frequent intake of sesame seeds provides positive effects on our vascular system, so you can also lower blood pressure.
SESAME SEEDS FROM AFRICA, HOW GOOD ARE THE PRODUCTS?
The climatic conditions in West Africa seem to be optimal for the growth and quality of sesame seeds, Made in Africa. Once the qualities have been ordered by the demanding buyers, it is up to the shipping department of the sellers to ensure the driest possible container delivery to the buying regions. If the sesame seeds become moist, there is a risk of them going moldy, and then a vitamin bomb becomes just the opposite. That is why it is also important that buyers and sellers monitor the maximum possible safety for the goods transport of the sesame seeds as well as possible. We find out now with an expert in this business why should sesame seeds from West Africa be considered at all.
WEST AFRICA SESAME SEEDS ARE VERY GOOD IN TERMS OF NUTRITIONAL VALUES AND PURITY
Oliver, www.bellacoola.de:
Benzo Elverir, www.afriainvestco.com:
We prefer to buy sesame seeds in West Africa (e.g. Gambia, Senegal, Mali) because, in our experience, sesame seeds actually have one of the highest oil contents of up to 53%. The production methods used in West Africa are also ecologically harmless, even though the labour input is of course very high. At the same time, we want to give local farmers the opportunity to live and work here in better circumstances and also to stay here and not abandon the local sesame production processes.

Benzo:
Indeed, the market for sesame products is dynamic and has grown more and more in recent years. People all over the world have realised that sesame seeds and the products with sesame seeds are healthier than wheat, for example. We continue to expect increasing demand, try to buy more and high quality sesame seeds and offer them at competitive prices on the world market.

Oliver:
Mr. Benzo, you have your own sesame seed factory and can clean up to 4 tons of sesame seeds per hour and package them according to quality levels. Who are their buyers and do you see other markets for their high quality agricultural products in Europe?
Our main markets for cleaned and controlled sesame seed buyers are in Turkey, all countries of Europe, Middle East and Asia.4)

Oliver:
So what are the current market situations for sesame seeds from Africa? Is the demand for this quite surprisingly healthy natural product growing?
We cannot buy as many sesame seeds as we could sell. It is particularly important to us that we can deliver reliable quality and the benchmark is the oil content of the sesame seeds. Of course, we are constantly on the lookout for reliable farmers and are planning a mutually beneficial contractual arrangement in this respect. We know that the cultivation and harvesting of the sesame seeds is very time-consuming and this of course also determines the price structure. In Europe or Turkey, over 2000 US dollars per tonne of sesame seeds are paid, and rightly so.
We can actually deliver almost all quantities that are required. However, consistent quality is very important to us and we take the greatest care in quality control. The product sesame oil has indeed not yet arrived everywhere on the world market, but its value is becoming increasingly known and this will also stimulate long-term demand….
Since the demand for healthy and nutritious sesame seeds has increased in recent years and not all countries of origin can supply the best qualities, the market price in Europe, the Middle East and Turkey for the best sesame seed qualities is well over 2000 US dollars per tonne. The transport of the goods has to be particularly monitored in terms of quality; no moisture or water may get to the cleaned sesame seeds. This also makes transport very complex and therefore expensive.
Oliver:
What growth rates do you anticipate for MADE IN AFRICA sesame seeds markets by 2030? What markets will you develop by the end of the decade?
In fact, word has spread to the world market that sesame seeds from West Africa are particularly oil-rich and nutritious. We expect demand from West Africa to more than double and we now need to develop a strategic plan with farmers on how to meet this demand without compromising on organic farming and also on the quality of the product ’sesame seed‘. More and more countries will buy sesame seeds and sesame products, because the value of sesame seeds for human health cannot be overestimated.
Oliver:
Thank you Mr Benzo very much for the interview.
In Africa production processes are looking a little different from Europe. But the output quality of the sesame seeds is surprising good
